Steve Jobs did it again at MacWorld! And the world got it right! Jobs ended all speculations made recently during MacWorld on Tuesday; introducing the world’s thinnest laptop, the MacBook Air.

Jobs showed off his engrossing showmanship on stage again, presenting the ultra thin laptop in a standard office manila envelope. During his keynote, Jobs jumped onto the stage with his usual energetic, humorous and excited child-like nature. He obviously loves what his company brings unto the table and he enjoyed every bit of showing it off to the world.

He was relaxed and playful throughout his speech but careful in his explanations. He misses nothing about the wow factor of the ultra thin laptop and he made it so simple, anyone should have no difficulty understanding him at all.

The MacBook Air weighs only 3 pounds and a ridiculous thickness (or thinness in this sense) of 0.16 inches at its thinnest end and 0.76 inches at its thickest. Besides its airy thinness, the ultra thin laptop is equipped with screen as wide as 13.3 inches with an LED backlit display, and a full-size backlit keyboard full-size.

With a multi-functional trackpad, MacBook Air is also responsive to quick-touch commands. Users can rotate photos, page rapidly through a photo slideshow, rearrange items on the desktop with ease and precision and creativity. The computer can also zoom in and out with a gentle “pinching” motion on the screen.

Its battery can live up to 5 hours, compare to other conventional laptops’ battery that can only last for 1.5. And what’s amazing about this is… it does not carry a heavy, and bulky battery extended battery.

The design is not only beautiful; seamless and sleek but it is also environment friendly. It is the first display that does not use mercury and arsenic glass. The circuit boards are BFR-free and PVC-free too. And the aluminum case? It is completely recyclable.

The MacBook Air is available now at $1799 and will start shipping in two weeks.

Besides the ultra thin laptop announcement, Jobs also introduced the long-expected iTunes movie rental service, innocently boasted the company successful partnership with all major Hollywood studios namely 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Universal, Sony, Paramount and Disney.

Movie lovers can now rent any film 30 days after their immediate DVD release and watch them within 24 hours over and over again on TV, Mac, PC or even iPhone for the price of $2.99 to $4.99.

Jobs also announced Time Capsule, a 500 GB and 1TB hard drive that can reliably back up and save all computer files. The two versions cost $299 and $499 respectively. The new iPod Touch too will now have numerous new functions, compatible to those of the iPhone, which includes maps, Web clips, SMS and captioned lyrics while listening to a song. Upgrade at a mere $20 only.

Jobs ended his speech on a high note with Randy Newman, a well-known songwriter and composer who often work at Pixar, singing witty verses from a piano on stage.

Definitely an Apple show!
