With Wal-Mart recent decision to stock up its shelves with Blu-ray DVD and boycott Toshiba’s HD-DVD format movies, we all know it’s the end of the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD format war… with Toshiba losing hands down.
Toshiba is planning on giving up its HD-DVD format empire following Warner Bros’ full support for its rival’s DVD format not so long ago and the latest Wal-Mart’s off-sided decision.
A source from Toshiba Corp confirmed that the company is ready to raise the white flag and in their final stage of planning to drop the high-definition DVD industry. An official announcement is expected to be released latest by next week.
The Japanese company has been suffering from losses especially when the retails shows no response to the HD-DVD players even after dropping its price. Toshiba slashed the price of its players to as cheap as $149 - $399 since Sony Corp joined the rest of the other major Hollywood studios in their move to support Sony’s Blu-ray format DVD. Toshiba is expected to lose another hundreds of millions of dollars in the withdrawal process now.
HD-DVD is so dead. I suggest an immediate action to burn your HD-DVD players now and run to the nearest store to grab a Blu-Ray players before Sony decided to burn your wallet… Or is it too late now?
