Bill Gates Lighten Up World Economic Forum

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates announced on Friday that his foundation will give away $306 million to help millions out of poverty and hunger using green technology and farming techniques. Bill Gates delivered his speech at the World Economic Forum for the very last time as the Microsoft Chairman.

The first two days of the forums in the five-day annual meeting of 2,500 leaders were mainly focused terrorism and conflict issues in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East. The forum had been weighed down by fears of a

global economic downturn.

But the announcement by Gates follow on, at the annual meeting of business and government leaders, lighten up the forum in his optimistic forecast for the future in the economic sector especially for poor countries.

Gates, who is stepping down as Microsoft Chairman later this year to focus more on his foundation and charity work, received a standing ovation at the forum. Gates who once changed the world in SciTech sector put aside the next chapter of his life and dedicate it all to change the world again; this time by getting the world of out poverty.

Gates said that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be giving away the money to help millions of African farmers feed themselves and others and work their way out of poverty by using the new green revolution using the technology and training that the foundation is investing in. He simply believes in giving the men fishing rods and teach them how to fish instead. The foundation which was initially set up to improve health in poor countries, has now moved on to concentrate on improving agriculture.

Besides that, Gates also urged businesses to support the government and non-profit organizations in curbing global poverty and spur more technological innovation for countires which are not technologically advance.
