Sony BMG Joined Amazon.com Inc’s DRM Free Move

Amazon.com Inc confirmed that Sony BMG has finally joined the rest of the music industry giants, Vivendi’s Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and EMI, to offer consumers songs without copy-protection technology, or digital rights management.

With this latest deal with Sony BMG, Amazon is now the first retailer to offer customers DRM-free songs from all four major music companies in the MP3 format. Songs in MP3 format can be played in all sort of digital players, which include Apple Inc’s iPod, Microsoft Corp’s Zune and a wide range of mobile phones too.

As music companies addressed the matter to keep pumping up the sales figure of digital music to match music fans’ demand to play digital songs on all possible PC and portable media player, Sony BMG like the rest of the leading music companies, dropped DRM protection with its launch of MusicPass Service.

Sony BMG is the world second largest music company and manages famous artists such as Celine Dion, Beyonce asnd Britney Spears.
